I can't find where we discussed
this with Jasper or someone similar when they purchased a car and the cowl was
not there. First -- caution, you can mix and match t-parts and come up with an
ok looking car body that was never produced by ford (a 1915 with the 1922-25
style rear seat section etc.). Sometime parts were changed back in the 1920s and
sometimes later in life.
Off my 1918 I measured from the bottom of the body on one side all the way to
the bottom of the body on the other side. It is approximately 61 1/4 inches.
That was taken with the hood on, so the tape measure was touching the back edge
of the hood. If you just have the top cowl part -- I measured that at the same
location -- just touching the hood. It was 28 1/4 inches from the bottom of the
molding pressed into the cowl to the bottom of the molding pressed into the cowl
on the other side. And it was 16 1/2 inches from the bottom of that same molding
to the bottom of the body.
I finally ran across Phil Mino's Feb 13 2005 posting:
He shares: Double check by measuring the width of the dash. The low ’23 is about
24 3/8" wide while the later one is 28" wide.
