Original Model T Ford Paint Colors are all but impossible to duplicate accurately today. The paints used in the very early cars (1909 -1914) were varnishes and had a relatively short life. This was also true of the later enamels (1926) and pyroxylins (1926-1927), although they were a good bit better than the earlier varnishes. The original early Greens and Blues were all but black, and could easily be taken as black. Original cars seen today are not likely the same color that they were when they were new, due to the aging of the paint over time. Even with today's modern paint of the same formula will vary slightly in color, and the variations were certainly more pronounced over sixty years ago.
The paints listed on this page are acceptable equivalents for the original colors. The numbers were collected as a joint effort between the Model T Ford Club of America, and the Model T Ford Club International. Cars finished in these colors will be accepted as "authentic" in any judging conducted by either club. These paints are by no means the "only" possibilities, and either club will welcome comments and corrections to the list.
